The Mawhiba Scientific Research Foundations Program aims to promote the concept of scientific research, advance its practice, and foster a culture of inquiry by encouraging gifted students to actively contribute to knowledge creation. The program also focuses on equipping students with the essential skills needed to develop practical solutions to research challenges across various sectors.

 

The program is designed for students in Grades 7 through 11, offering two distinct versions, each specifically tailored to the needs of different grade levels.

 

This initiative offers students a structured and thorough series of skill-building courses aimed at developing their research capacities. The program emphasizes the development and refinement of their research skills by immersing them in scientific research methods and techniques, all under the guidance of distinguished research experts.

 

Objectives

• Offering diverse training opportunities for gifted students to discover and develop their gifts and abilities through participation in various academic fields and targeted enrichment activities and programs.

 

• Providing gifted students with the opportunity to delve into research areas that are compatible with their abilities and mental readiness.

 

• Training students in methods for discovering new scientific facts by using scientific research skills, tools, and processes, analyzing phenomena and problems, and striving to find realistic and practical solutions.

 

• Fostering the ability to identify logical solutions to problems by engaging students in deconstructing and solving issues through scientific research, formulating hypotheses, making observations, and more.

 

Program duration

The program runs for eight weeks during the semester, with weekly sessions lasting four hours.

​​​​​​Note: Registration for the program this year will be open in January and the program will take place from April to May.

 

 

Target group

Students enrolled in the National Program for Gifted Identification, from Grade 7 to Grade 11.

 

Program registration requirements 

 

1. The student must be of Saudi nationality or born to a Saudi mother.

 

2. The remaining non-Saudi students may be accepted—up to a maximum of 10% of the total number of participants—provided that the full program cost is paid.

 

3. The student must achieve the required score on the Mawhiba Multiple Cognitive Aptitude Test (MMCAT):

• Obtaining a score of 1410 or higher for second-level students.

• Obtaining a score of 1350 or higher for third-level students.

 

4-Students who undertook the Mawhiba Multiple Cognitive Aptitude Test (MMCAT) in Arabic must also obtain at least one of the following minimum scores on the following English language proficiency tests:

5.  The student must register in the Mawhiba Scientific Research Foundations Program through the Mawhiba website.

 

6. The student must pay the program fees after receiving the acceptance notification in order for their final registration in the program to be confirmed.

 

Requirements for Successfully Completing the Program and Receiving the Certificate

 

  • Completion of both the pre-test (before the program begins) and the post-test (after the program ends).
  • Minimum attendance rate of 80% throughout the program..
  • Timely submission of all required assignments.
  • Delivery of a presentation on a research problem (for students in Grades 10 and 11 only).

Registration for the program is available in November each year, and the program is delivered during the period from January to February of the following year.

The program is offered online, allowing students to join from any city across the Kingdom, as long as they have access to an internet connection.

What does the daily program include?

To achieve the program's objectives, it is essential to emphasize that the practical application and real-life practice of all the elements, components, and activities of the program form the foundation for its success. Therefore, the daily program will be distributed as follows:

- 30% of the daily content is dedicated to the cognitive aspect, meaning a set of information and cognitive experiences that help students enrich their knowledge and prepare them to facilitate the building of their scientific and practical experiences.

- 70% of the daily content focuses on the practical and skill application of the program's various components and activities, meaning a set of diverse skill-based learning practices that help students develop and enhance their various research skills.

Is there a minimum attendance requirement for a student to be eligible for the certificate?

Yes, students must attend all lectures and activities within the program. A certificate will not be awarded to any student whose attendance is below 80% of the total program hours. However, as an exception, the certificate may still be awarded to a student whose attendance rate is below 80%, provided they have an acceptable excuse and their attendance is not less than 70% of the program hours
