About the program

The Qualifying Program for International Standards Olympiad (Standards Generation) is implemented to qualify nominated students for international participation in South Korea’s International Standards Olympiad. The program focuses on developing students’ specialized expertise in the fields of standards, metrology, and quality, thereby contributing to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in this vital sector.

This program is also implemented annually through collaboration between the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba,” the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, and the Ministry of Education. It follows a structured timeline that includes training programs, progressive assessments, and comprehensive preparation to equip the team for participation in the International Standards Olympiad.

Objectives of Participation in the Olympiads
  1. Raise Awareness: Raise public awareness about the essential role that measurement, standards, and analysis play in improving the quality of life.

  2. Foster Scientific Creativity: Inspire scientific innovation among students by providing opportunities to explore novel approaches in the fields of measurement and standardization.

  3. Provide Specialized Experiences: Deliver unique, high-quality experiences for gifted students in the domains of standards and specifications

  4. Strengthen Saudi Arabia’s Role: Advance Saudi Arabia’s global standing and leadership in the areas of standards, metrology, and quality.

Regiestration Requirements

Registration for participation open until March 2025.

  • Target Group: Students in grades 7 through 12 who have participated in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa) within the past two years.
  • Participants must be Saudi nationals, currently enrolled in grades 7 through 12, and aged between 11 and 20 years.
  • The participant must be officially nominated to take part in the Qualifying Program for the International Standards Olympiad (The Standards Generation). The Executive Committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant if any inaccuracies are found in their submitted information.
  • All participants must register through the online participation form. Projects that are not registered will not be accepted.
