About the program

The Video Game Development Program responds to the rapid growth of the video game industry, a dynamic field that brings together technology, creativity, and innovation. The program aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of video game design and development using modern game engines, while equipping them with programming, computational thinking, and interactive design skills through hands-on activities and real-world projects.The program also provides a stimulating learning environment where participants can design and develop playable prototypes of interactive games, fostering their technical and creative abilities and preparing them for future opportunities in digital fields.

 

Program Objectives

  • Discover the world of video game development and explore the fundamentals of game design and creation.
  • Transform ideas into real interactions within the game using Blueprint visual scripting.
  • Explore the tools used in game development with Unreal Engine 5 and discover the capabilities of the engine.
  • Innovate interactive user interfaces that display game information and enhance the player experience.
  • Develop game mechanics, such as character movement, point collection, challenge identification, and win and loss. conditions.
  • Design stages for an immersive game featuring interactive elements and diverse challenges.

Mawhiba, in collaboration with Al-Mubdi'oon Center and under the umbrella of King Abdulaziz University, presents the Video Game Development Program.

Registration & Nomination

Target Audience:

The program targets students enrolled in the National Program for Gifted Identification, from Grade 10 through Grade 12.

It also includes students classified under the Scientific Aptitude and Research tracks in their Mawhiba Student Profile, according to the following classifications:

• Scientific Track: Exceptional Scientific Gifted Student and Scientific Gifted Student.

• Research Track: Exceptional Research Gifted Student and Research Gifted Student.

Registration Requirements:

1. The student must achieve the required score on the Mawhiba Multiple Mental Aptitude Test.

3. The student must pay the financial contribution immediately after registering in the system for their registration in the program to be finalized.

How to Register

  • 1 Log in to the Mawhiba website.

  • 2 Navigate to the Mawhiba Universal Enrichment Program tab.

  • 3 Confirm your profile information.

  • 4 Complete the participation form.

  • 5 Agree to the terms and conditions.

  • 6 Pay the program fees.

Technical Requirements for Program Enrollment

  • A computer running Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).

  • A quad-core processor with a speed of 2.5 GHz or higher.

  • At least 8 GB of RAM; 16 GB is recommended.

  • A graphics card that supports DirectX 11 or 12.

  • Install Epic Games Launcher and Unreal Engine 5 before the program begins.
